I made this one for my oldest daughter when she was an infant.

This is a corner to corner stitch although I don't know if it was called that at that time. .

I used a multi-color yarn in white, yellow and green.

This is one of the few afghans I have made that does not include a border.

Abbreviations:

Ch: chain

DC: double crochet

SS: slip stitch

Hook: I used a J hook but size is unimportant.

Increase

Row 1: Chain 5. 1 DC in the 3rd CH from the hook. 1 DC in each of next 2 CH.

Row 2: Chain 5. 1 DC in the 3rd CH from the hook. (shell group). 1 DC in each of next 2 CH. Flip the first shell group. SS worked in the space created by the skipped CH stitches. CH 2. 3 DC in same space.

Row 3: Chain 5. 1 DC in the 3rd CH from the hook. 1 DC in each of next 2 CH. Flip the first shell group. *{1 SS into the space created by the 2 skipped CH stitches in the next shell group, CH 2, 3 DC into the same space} Repeat from * until end of row.

Row 4-?: Continue repeating row 3 until desired width.

Decrease

Row 1: CH 1 and turn. 1 SS into each of next 3 DC. *{1 SS around the CH 2. CH 2. 3 DC into same space. } Repeat from * to end of row.

Row 2-?: Work as per decrease row 1. Continue until 1 shell group left.

Finishing:

Pull thread through last loop. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
